Dedication at Little Sioux Scout Ranch

April 16, 2012

By Denny Deters

Over the weekend, we had a dedication of a tree planted in the name of Charlie Osgood, who was the third Scout camp ranger at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch.  Charlie began his career at Little Sioux in 1986 and served 18 years, retiring in 2004.  He and his wife Martha resided at the camp and helped develop the camp into one of the premier camps in the Mid-America Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Charlie died in 2011 after battling cancer for a number of years.

With over 800 Scouts and leaders in attendance on Saturday, April 14, 2012, a dedication of the tree and special memorial rock was held starting at 10:00 a.m. with the presentation of Charlie’s family.

The location is on the north side of the main camp road approximately ¼ mile from the entrance located at 32977 Larpenteur Memorial Road, approximately 4 miles north of the town of Little Sioux, Iowa and 6 miles east of Blencoe, Iowa.
