2013 Cub Scout Resident Camp Recap

September 24, 2013

2013 marked a big shift for the Mid-America Council Cub Scout camping programs. smoresWith the start of four new week-long day camps, Cub Scouts in Omaha, Council Bluffs and Sioux City spent a week meeting other Scouts from across their district and had a blast while working on belt loops and pins with old and new friends.

Ohwahnasee, Twin Lakes, and Thundercloud districts also held “twilight” camps, where Cub Scouts attended Monday-Friday during the evening hours. The theme for camp this year was “Galactic Trek”. Camps featured exciting science experiments and the chance to get messy!

We also launched our resident camp program for Cub Scouts at Little Sioux Scout Ranch, hosting more than 900 Cub Scouts and parents throughout the summer in our inaugural year. Campers spent three days and two nights camping in the primitive beauty of the waterslideLoess Hills. Tigers, Wolves and Bears participated in BB guns, archery, crafts, nature hikes, water slides, and more. Webelos were able to select a trek that suited their interests and worked on activity badges from Naturalist to Sportsman.

It was a great summer and we hope you will join us next year as we take on “Cub Camping 2014: Knights of the Roundtable”.</p
