Boy Scouts pick up Christmas trees in Omaha

Omaha area Boy Scouts are providing Christmas tree pick up for two more days.

The curbside pick up will last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 11 and 12.

People interested in the service must make a reservation 24 hours in advance by visiting scouting4trees.org or calling 402-965-1458.

The service by scouts and adult volunteers involved in Troops 282 and 558 covers neighborhoods in Omaha west of 72nd Street, Gretna and the Elkhorn area, or zip codes 68022, 68028, 68114, 68116, 68118, 68122, 68124, 68127, 68130, 68134, 68135, 68136, 68137, 68138, 68142, 68144, 68154 and 68164.

The drive serves as a recycling and ecological service project. Collected trees are taken to area drop sites where they are ground, chipped or used as fish habitat material in area lakes.

The event is sponsored by the Millard Rotary and Boy Scout Troops 282 and 558.
