Meet Kristine Price, Camp Cedars Handicraft Director

“I’m posting three things you need to work in Handicraft:  1.) WD-40 for when it should move and doesn’t; 2.)  Duct tape for when it moves and should not; and  3.)  Chocolate to keep the area director happy,” explains Kristine, as she tapes the list  to the Handicraft wall.   She refers to herself as a “camp junkie,” admitting, “I just have to go to camp every summer and I do what I can to make others develop that same need.”

Kristine has been a volunteer or paid staff member every summer at Camp Cedars since 1999, when she first helped out at Shotgun Merit Badge class.

“I’d never held a shotgun before in my life, but I learned quickly how to teach Scouts to handle fire arms safely.  I’ve been the Archery Director, Rifle Director, and most recently,  Handicraft Director.”    Get to know Kristine – read more!

By “Sir” Mike Evano, Cub Resident Camp Director

We had a pre-camp leader meeting on Saturday, March 29 at Little Sioux Scout Ranch with 25 packs attending. The meeting lasted three hours, which included lunch provided by Treat America to give us  a “taste” of what’s to come from the summer camp kitchens.  The orientation included a guided tour through camp, and a hike up one of the trails that will be used by the Webelos this summer. Speakers included Camp Director, Mike Evano;  Program Director, Kara Dacey; Camp Ranger, Doc Schaefer;  and Shooting Sports Director, Dave Tasich. If you were unable to attend, the entire event was videotaped!  View Cub Leader Pre-camp Meeting -Part 1.  For more information, visit  For questions, please contact Mike Evano at 402-431-9272.
